Raised in Northeast Columbia, Dr. Davant attended elementary, middle, and jr. high school in the Northeast before graduating from Spring Valley High School in 1981. He attended the University of South Carolina, majoring in chemistry, then went on to the Medical University of South Carolina where he served as President of the Student Dental Association in his junior year and vice-president of the entire student body of the Medical University his senior year. In 1988, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Davant then attended Northwestern University in Chicago where he received his Master's Degree in Orthodontics. He was honored with the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Award for his study of the temporomadibular joint (TMJ) in 1990 from Northwestern University. This research has been published in the September 1993 issue of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Davant is on staff at Palmetto Richland Hospital as a member of the Craniofacial/Cleft Lip and Palate team, heading up the orthodontic division, which works with children with dentofacial anomalies.
Dr. Davant along with his wife, Kim, have two children, Thomas VII, and a daughter, Taylor. He attends Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Northeast Columbia. In his spare time he likes to hunt, fish, play golf, spend quality time with his family, and recently competed in his third marathon.
